VIENNA – The Philippine Nurses Association in Austria’s Dancing Nightingales opened this year’s Pfarrball of the Heart of Jesus Parish, Töllergasse 1210 Vienna.
The group’s performance at the parish hall demonstrated the rich and diverse culture of the Philippines.
“We are very much glad to share with our Austrian, friends one of the national treasures of the Philippines—the richness of our culture,” said Marizel Rojas. Rojas made possible that the group present the Pandaggo Rinconada to the Austrian audience.
Fr. Joseph Giggenbacher, a Mill Hill Missionary and Parish Priest, who had been in the Philippines for quite some time already, thanked the group for their wonderful Performance.
„Your dance is a display of the rich and diverse Filipino culture. We hope that through the universal language of dance, we can build formidable bridges of friendship and understanding between the Philippines, Austria and other countries,” Fr. Giggenbacher said.
Present during the event are the following PNA-A Dancing Nightingales: Zenaida Lapiz, May Washüttl, Marilyn Ilagan, Zandrine Kocjan, Dorcie Aigner (Cheoreograph/Director) and Marizel Rojas, an event organizer.
Every winter, Austria hosts hundreds of swish ball nights – nowhere are balls so romantically formal as in Vienna. Over 400 Viennese balls are staged each winter. Balls are usually opened by a Polonaise (a slow stately dance of Polish origin) and punctuated by speeches.
