Vienna, Austria – Austria`s Filipino community is rallying to support the thousands of victims and evacuees displaced by the Taal volcano eruption on January 12, 2020
According to reports, more than 160,000 Filipinos are staying in various evacuation centres across Batangas and nearby provinces of Cavite and Quezon since the Taal Volcano started erupting on January 12.
Here in Vienna, various Filipino Groups are organizing a fundraiser for the victims of the volcano.eruption.
Boxes containingt donations from the members and friends of Global Save Life Foundation have been sent out for the benefit of Taal Volcano eruption victims in the Philippines, most especially fort he evacuees in several towns of Batangas and Cavite.
“It was the Filipino bayanihan (helping each other out) spirit that moved our kababayans (countymen and women) in Vienna to pool their resources and come to the aid of our fellow countrymen,” Elmer Blanco, president oft he Global Save Life Foundation told Philippine Press.
According to Blanco, some Austrian-Pinoy residents who are currently in Batangas also serve as coordinators.
Likewise, the Global Save Life Foundation is spearheading a ” BOX for a CAUSE “, and DANCE for a CAUSE events. Donors can send their donations to selected areas in Vienna (- ( toothpaste, soap, shampoo, canned good, new underwears for kids and adults both for male and females, etc. ):

The DANCE for a CAUSE ” will be held on FEBRUARY 29,2020 AT 6PM in the APOSTEL SAAL, SALVATORIANERPLATZ 1, 1100 Vienna.
The President of the group is appealing to every kababayans in Austria to join this noble act for a cause and help fill the box and send it to Taal volcano eruption victims.
It is noted that donations will be needed in the coming days. This is the very reason why a number of Pinoy groups have been organizing benefit events to raise funds for this purpose.
The Filipino Catholic Community in Vienna likewise collected after the Sunday Masses a huge amount fort he victims oft he Taal volcano eruption. The money collected will be sent to LASAC – the office is under the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lipa, Batangas. Archbischop Gilbert Garcera heads the Archdiocese.
Three groups from Vienna have organized themselves to voluntarily help Taal Volcano eruption victims. Then PGG (Philippinische Göttesdienst Gemeinde), Samahang Batanguenos in Austria and Circulo Caviteno seek prayers, financial help and any other kind of assistance that would help the affected families in Batangas and Cavite. Menawhile, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that Alert Level 4 remains hoisted over Taal, which means a hazardous eruption is possible within days.
“We have observed weaker volcanic earthquakes, but found that the amount of emitted sulfur dioxide (SO2) is fluctuating, which means magma is actively degassing beneath Taal, said Maria Antonia Bornas, chief of the Phivolcs Volcano Monitoring and Eruption Prediction Division.
