I am still reeling, dizzy and in awe at the turnout, events, performances and overall success of my 50th Birthday last October 6, 2018 at the grounds of Pfarre Leopoldau, 21. District, Vienna.
The Thanksgiving mass at the Leopoldauer Church was indeed a very memorable one – Austrians and Filipinos joined together to celebrate the significant day. Fr. Klaus Coolen, OSC officiated the mass, concelebrated by Fr. Julian Hotico and new priest Fr. Hannes Grabner.
The youth Band of the parish of Leopoldau, with the special partifiption of my two children, provided the music.
It was so hard to take it all in while it was happening. All the love under the sunny Saturday noon was so warm and overwhelming for me. I was NOT expecting, nor did I plan the event for such an enormous turnout. I am very grateful to my daughter Gabriele Pascua, for this surprise celebration. I did wish to have only a Thanksgiving mass and a simple get-together after the mass. The outcome was overwhelming! The Council of Filipino Associations in Austria and a number of Filipino Friends and Austrian friends were there, indeed a big surprise! My heartfelt gratitude to the Chairman of CFAA, Mr. Elmer Blanco, Presidents of the different Filipino organizations and Ms. Marizel Rojas for helping and assisting my daughter to make the affair a successful one!
The reception at the grounds of the Parish of Leopoldau is amazing. Friends from the Parish and from the Filipino community were there. Families changed plans, strict work schedules just to celebrate with me. I am just filled with thankfulness. While I was delivering my thank you message, I looked there was a face I knew, a memory of a time in my life. So many, many special memories. The only drawback and thing I would change is that I wish I could have spent time with EVERY SINGLE person who came. It is always completely impossible spend quality time with everyone who comes to see you. Especially when there is a vast amount of people. But I ALWAYS try. I will do my best to touch base with everyone who came, who sent me cards, e-mails, messages, voice mails and presents as quickly as I can. Each and everyone meant the world to me.
In all honesty, it was extremely hard for me NOT to stay emotional many, many times throughout the course of the celebration. The performances my friends gave, meant so much to me.
I have rarely felt so loved, humbled, thankful and grateful. So much more than I have the words to express.
The presence of friends both from Leopoldau and from the Filipino Community in Austria means more than the world to me, to have all of you as part of the building block of my life. Again, I am so very, very, blessed and grateful to have such a wonderful family and friends, Yes…I AM very blessed, and I AM very thankful and grateful.
THANK YOU to EVERYONE for a wonderful Birthday I will never, ever forget.
