The Long Night of Intercultural Dialogue was held on September 8, 2018 at different locations in Vienna. The opening ceremony and traditional custome show was staged at the Vienna City Hall. This important event was organized by the International Cultural Diversity Organization (ICDO).
During the opening event at the Vienna City Hall, participants discovered why cultural diversity is so important as they listened to a Vibrant discussion by prominent speakers at a kick-off symposium on the topic of ‘Collaborating Minds: Diversity’s Role in a Modern Society’.
The Symposium and discussions gave the participants the opportunity to voice out their thoughts on the crucial and central issues raised.
ICDO is very thankful for the opportunity to work together with the VIC Club Filipino, European Network of Filiino Diaspora (ENFID), the VIC Art Club, the VIC Russian Club and the United Nations Women’s Guild in creating an unforgettable costume show celebrating the various traditions from around the world.
VIC Club Filipino Folkloric with its artistic Director and member of ENFID-Austria Ms. Anna-Maria Langer, presented magnificent and well-applauded Filipino dances,
„We are always trying to promote awareness of the different cultures of the Philippines. Through such events, we are able to reach out and show the world the beauty of our Filipino culture. At the same time, we embrace the culture of the different countries participating in such events. Thus, there is a kind of interchange in knowledge and this make us richer and aware of what is around us,“ Ms. Anna-Maria Langer said.
On the issue of diversity, Ms. Anna-Maria Langer commented that it is important to interact and mingle with people from different countries in order to break the gap that exists between countries and people.
Toni Pehar, organizer oft he Event is very much thankful for the participation of the VIC Club Filipino Folkloric and the European Network of Filiino Diaspora (ENFID).

The Long Night Of Intercultural Dialogue is an annual public event that celebrates Vienna’s rich history with culture, creativity and art.
Austria’s location in the heart of Europe gives it a unique advantage as a melting pot of culture. Various art and cultural venues will extend their opening hours to allow for increased access to the public.
ICDO is a Vienna-based international NGO with the objective to promote diversity, interculturality and raise awareness of different cultural expressions and their values in order to encourage the development of cultural interaction with the goal of bringing people closer together and closing the cultural gaps.
