Celebrate Vienna as a culturally diverse mecca on September 8th, 2018, through the Long Night of Intercultural Dialogue. ICDO will be hosting the opening ceremony and traditional costume show at Wiener Rathaus, where Mr. Jürgen Peindl will be moderating a congregation of Professionals, Politicians, Creatives Minds and Academics, such as Dr. Wolfgang Petritsch, Claudia Arthur-Flatz, Mag. Tomislav Stipic and Dr. Prof. Hermann Mückler. Altes Rathaus will host ICDO’s open dialogue and storytelling session featuring musical talent Kim Cooper, and stories from actress Lilian Klebow, Alberto Nodale AKA Mr. Austria, and musician, Harri Stojka. ICDO invites everyone to join the discussion and the workshops at The Chocolate Museum Vienna, and the intercultural art exhibition at Yunus Emre Institute. The Long Night will end with a VIP Gala Dinner at Palais Wertheim, with live performances and presentation of the ICDO Annual Recognition of Outstanding Achievement Award.
Rathaus attendees will discover why cultural diversity is so important as they listen to a Vibrant discussion by prominent speakers at a kick-off symposium on the topic of ‘Collaborating Minds:
Diversity’s Role in a Modern Society’. The discussion will then open to the floor to sample theaudience’s thoughts on the crucial and central issues raised.
ICDO is very thankful for the opportunity to work together with the VIC Club Filipino, the VIC Art Club, the VIC Russian Club and the United Nations Women’s Guild in creating an unforgettable costume show celebrating the various traditions from around the world. From providing artists for the Yunus Emre Institute’s exhibition, to offering costumes and food for the Opening Ceremony, it has been our pleasure to work alongside members of these organizations, such as Mr. Raymond Nader from the VIC Art Club, Miriam de la Cruz from the VIC Club Filipino, and others.
There will be opportunities for all members of the public to network and mingle with speakers and others while enjoying free refreshments, as well as appreciate traditional dances by Bali and Filipino performers.
At Altes Rathaus, attendees will be greeted by a live piano and vocal performance by Ambassador of Integration Jovana Misaljevic and international award-winning vocalist Kim Cooper. Creative minds and celebrities from local and global arenas will gather for a panel discussion titled ‘Living the Diversity: Witnessing the Change’. The speakers, Lilian Klebow, Alberto Nodale, and Harri Stojka, will be sharing their personal experiences with diversity.
An art exhibition, ‘Perspectives. Diversity. Art.’ at the Yunus Emre Institute will present a diverse range of artists showcasing their messages about cultural diversity through their artwork, featuring independent artists and artists sourced from the VIC Art Club, the Eurasian Academy of Arts, and the Latin American Institute. Traditional Turkish Coffee Workshops and aperitifs will immerse patrons in Turkish cuisine, and an Ebru Watercolor Marbling Workshops will offer participants a fun and creative opportunity to try out a unique method of painting.
The Chocolate Museum Vienna will present the fascinating history of chocolate around the world.
Attendees will have a go at making their own chocolates at the Chocolate Tasting and Workshop.
At the OeBB Hauptbahnhof Station, migrants and professionals will engage in an open dialogue.
The night will culminate with an exclusive invite-only Gala Dinner and Closing Ceremony at the Palais Wertheim. ICDO will be presenting the ICDO Annual Recognition of Outstanding Achievement Award.
With support from Kosmo, ICDO looks forward to welcoming people from all over Vienna, to experience this fantastic night and celebrate diversity through music, food, art, costume performances, speeches and discussions.
