July 12, 2018, Vienna, Austria – The IMUSICAPELLA, a choir from Imus, Cavite succesfully staged a full concert at the St. Johann the Evangelist Parish Church in Vienna’s 10th District.
Fr. Ron Sandoval, SVD, Chaplain of the Philippinische Gottesdienst Gemeinde and the Council of Filipino Associations in Austria organized the concert.
„I am so happy that the choir included us in their itenerary. I am very much thankful that they opted to stage their concert in this church,“ Fr. Ron Sandoval told ABS-CBN News.
Elmer Blanco, Chairman of the Council of Filipino Associations in Austria is very glad that a big number of Filipinos and Austrian friends witnessed the magnificent presentation of IMUSICAPELLA.
„It is a great feeling to see and hear the wonderful voices of this choir, who proudly hoisted the Philippine flag as they won in several international choral competitions here in Europe,“ Blanco commented.
The prestigious choir is on their 90 day European tour. Recently the group bagged top prizes in the 47th edition of the Florilège Vocal de Tours, an international choral competition in France. IMUSICAPELLA won first prize in the Vocal Ensemble Category during the said contest.
The group, which is based in the Our Lady of the Pillar Parish, also won Best in Stage Performance and the audience prize.
In a statement, the choir said this was the first time a choir won in two out of the six European Grand Prix member competitions in a single year.
Before their winning performance in France, the Imusicapella Chamber Choir bagged the top prize at the 39th International May Choir Competition in Varna, Bulgaria
They also took home the first place in the Chamber Choir category and the award for Best Interpretation of a Bulgarian piece by a foreign choir.
Choirmaster Tristan Ignacio is very much thankful for the support of their „kababayans“, who take care of them during their European stints.
„Masaya kami dahil naramdaman namin ang init ng pagtanggap ng ating mga kababayan, saan man kami makarating dito sa Europa. Tinanggap nila kami ng buong puso. Sa ngalan ng lahat ng bumubuo ng IMUSICAPELLA, nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat, lalong-lalo na sa aming mga host families, na taos-pusong tumanggap sa amin,“ Tristan Ignacio said.
