VIENNA, Austria – Bicolanos and devotees in Austria will again commemorate on September 16, 2017 the 15th annual fluvial procession along the Danube River from Vienna, Austria to Spitz an der Donau, Lower Austria in honor of their regional Patroness, Our Lady of Penafrancia.
. More than 600 Filipinos and Austrian friends are expected to join the religious event.
The fluvial procession is being spearheaded by the Bikol Society in Austria, headed by its president, Marizel Rojas.
“The yearly celebration of the festivity in honor of our Lady of Peñafrancia is a shining testament to the unwavering fidelity of the Bicolanos, generally all the Filipinos in Austria, toward the Blessed Mother,” Rojas said.
In the Philippines and abroad, the Peñafrancia fiesta is the only region-wide festival observed by people coming from the provinces of Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Masbate and Sorsogon. Devotees also join them from other places.
