To commemorate the 117th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence, the Philippine Embassy in Austria held a National Day Reception on June 17, 2015 at the Hotel Marriott Vienna.
It was attended by Austrian Government officials, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, Representatives of the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Vienna, academics, business community and Leaders of the Filipino community in Austria.
In her remarks, Ambassador Ma. Zeneida Angara-Collinson invited the international community to take advantage of profitable opportunities in the Philippines. ” As the Philippines is poised to enter a new era of prosperity and progress, I invite our friends and partners here in Austria to take advantage of profitable opportunities in the Philippines. Our strong and historic ties since the 17th century and our shared values provide a solid platform for deeper and wider engagement in the political, economic and social spheres.”
The Ambassador also expressed her gratitude to the international community for the support they have shown especially during the typhoon Haiyan in November 2013.
“In defending our hard won freedom through the years, our country has faced down many challenges – both natural and man-made. Two years ago, Supertyphoon Haiyan wreaked havoc across most of southern and central Philippines. Despite its unprecedented ferocity and devastation, the Philippines was able to continue its steady path of growth, largely due to the characteristic grit, resolve and resilience of the Filipino people enhanced by the solidarity of the international community,” the Ambassador said.
Ambassador Ma. Zeneida Angara-Collinson assured the guest during the diplomatic reception that she will do her best to deepen the friendship and cooperation between the Philippines, the host Country Austria and all the countries under her jurisdiction.
“As I wish to assure my host country, Austria, and all of you present here tonight, that, as the new Philippine Ambassador to Austria with concurrent accreditation to Croatia, the Slovak Republic and Slovenia, and as Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other International organizations in Vienna, I will endeavor, in my official and personal capacity, to deepen our friendship, expand areas for mutual cooperation, and to join hands with you in our common pursuit for peace, prosperity and a hospitable planet Earth for all of humankind,” the ambassador said.
