On June 7, 2015, the UP Concert Chorus (UPCC), the official choir of the University of the Philippines, enthralled both Austrian and Filipino audiences in two concerts at the Filipino Catholic Community Church and at the Parish of Mariabrunn, 1140 Vienna.
Under the baton of Prof. Janet Sabas Aracama, UPCC performed a repertoire with a variety of songs, ranging from Filipino folk songs to the likes of heart-warming classics.
“It is really very beautiful. I feel very proud to be a Filipino. Ang galing, galing talaga, tatak Pilipino yan!” a Pinay guest commented.
Filipina leader Arlene Castaneda expressed her gratitude for the great opportunity to watch the concert.
“Ang galing! Talagang ipinagmamalaki ang galing ng Pilipino. Isa itong opotunidad na dapat hindi ipalampas,” Castaneda said.
Honey Laudit, UP Concert Chorus member, is very happy to be a part of the UP Concert Chorus.
It is a great chance to share our talents to our “kababayans” here in Vienna. Alam ko matagal na kayong hindi nakakuwi sa Pilipinas at ito na po ang paraan namin para ibalik ang Pilipinas sa inyong mga puso,” Honey said.
„It was truly an honor and a great experience to have performed in one of the oldest churches in Vienna, Austria,“ another UP Concert Chorus member commented.
“Thank you to all who made our stay in Vienna a successful one! Special thanks to the Ambassador and the host families who welcomed us,” Prof. Janet Sabas-Aracama said.
UPCC members stayed with very generous Filipino host families during their visit in Vienna.
