Would you dare spend your Friday evening inside the church? Christian factions are inviting the public to stay for a night of free exhibitions, shows, fairs, and concerts.
Hundreds of churches will again participate in the „Lange Nacht der Kirchen“ scheduled on May 29, 2015 in Austria. These churches will open their doors during this event. Almost all big christian religious communities and churches will take part on this event.
The “Long Night of Churches” is an ecumenical event that has become something of a tradition over the years. In Vienna, Christian churches invite you to join their multi-faceted programme, starting from 6pm.
During the Long Night of the Churches, hundreds of Christian churches open their doors to the public, who will have a chance to enjoy concerts and performances, or simply to marvel at the architecture.
Around 3,000 events, including exhibitions, discussions, workshops, lectures and concerts will take place.
With Christianity slowly losing ground on the continent, religious groups would like attendees of the event to know more about their churches. Aside from the prominent Roman Catholic Church, the Eastern European Orthodox and the Anglican groups are also participating.
The purpose of the event is not necessarily to preach the Gospel, but to celebrate the beauty found in religion though arts and music
