The Association of Novo Ecijanos in Austria celebrated Nueva Ecija Day on September 6, 2014 at the Don Bosco Hall, 1030 Vienna. Highlight of the event was the comemmoration of the 118th celebration of “Unang Sigaw ng Nueva Ecija”, which commemorates the display of unity and great courage of our forebears who rose in arms in September 2, 1896 along with other provinces that helped overthrow the Spaniards
For its role in the revolution, the province earned its place in the Philippine flag as one of the eight rays of the sun, each ray representing the provinces that revolted against the Spaniards.

We honor each and every Filipino for doing his or her share to ensure that our democracy tribes and our country remains firmly on the path of peace an progress. Today as we celebrate the Unang Sigaw or the first cry we are reminded of the courage of those who have made the Philippines what it is today. It also renews in us the solemn duty we all share to ensure that the Filipino nations lives up to its promise and to the Novo Ecijanos and the Filipino community in Austria I urge you to continue to live by the good values of the Filipinos and contribute to the well-being of our motherland the Philippines and your adoptive homeland Austria,” Ambassador Yparraguirre added.

Throughout the years, ANEA has been steadfast in its efforts to provide outreach services to fellow Novo Ecijanos back home through their medical and dental missions, housing projects, nutrition and feeding programs, educational to poor but deserving students and financial assistance to victims of natural calamities in the Philippines.
Aside from its tireless advocacies and projects, ANEA had also promoted a positive image of Filipinos here in Austria showing the growing importance of Filipino overseas as partners of Philippine development and nation-building.
