January 15, 2014 – Vienna, Austria – The new officers of the Council of Filipino Associations in Austria or CFAA were formally inducted into office. Ambassador Lourdes Yparraguirre of the Philippine Embassy in Vienna administered the oath to the officers of the CFAA led by its incoming President, Ms. Ma. Concepcion “Bong” Segura.
Mr. Angelino Asuncion read the message of Mr. Rolly Mercado, outgoing president, who was not able to attend the induction ceremonies. Mercado reviewed the achievements and activities of the Council during his term. He likewise encouraged the new officers to continue the work that the past officers have begun.
“Let me extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone for the trust, love and patience for the last past years of my administration. I do hope that you will continue to persevere and dedicate your time, talents and resources for the benefit of our community,” Mercado said
CFAA President “Bong” Segura expressed her thanks to the Philippine Embassy for being supportive of the Council’s activities and for administering the induction ceremonies. She expressed the commitment of her officers to do their best to achieve the goals of the CFAA and implement the projects and activities that would further enhance the unity of the Filipinos in Austria.
Mr. Boy Torres, also an active community leader, called on other Filipino groups in Austria to join the CFAA and to actively engage in social, cultural, and civic activities.
In the Ambassador’s brief remarks, she congratulated the outgoing officers, led Mr. Rolly Mercado , and commended them for a job well done especially for their efforts in making the CFAA a unifying force within the Filipino community in Austria.Ambassador Yparraguirre also lauded the hard work and dedication of the leaders and members of the CFAA aimed at promoting and serving the interests of Filipinos in Austria. She urged them to work relentlessly to further strengthen and expand the Association and to continue their cooperation and collaboration with the Embassy in its efforts to implement its consular programs in the country.
Filipino foods and delicacies were served after the induction ceremonies.
