The Korean Association in Austria ceremonially presented a check of 15,000 € as their contribution to the relief operations for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan). Led by the Association’s President, Mr. Jong Bum Park, the group met with Philippine Ambassador Lourdes Yparraguirre on Monday, December 2, 2013, at the Philippine Embassy in Vienna. The Korean group expressed their condolences to the families of the victims. They also conveyed their deep concern and heartfelt solidarity to those affected by Typhoon Yolanda, on behalf of the Korean Community in Austria, and offered their support to the ongoing relief operations.
“We want to express that our thoughts are with you and the people of your country and we want exert best efforts to help alleviate suffering. Our condolences and concern for the families of the victims , our sympathies to the affected people ,“ Park said
The Korean Community was accompanied by Korean Ambassador to Austria, Hon. Cho Kyun.
Hyun expressed his deepest sympathy to the families of the victims of typhoon Hyan.
„The Korean community in Austria stands with you and this is a small token of our solidarity with the Filipino people. We really wish that you will overcome these difficulties. The Korean community is behind you. Allow me to express my gratitude to the President of the Korean community in Austria who has inspired the community to generate the funds fort he typhoon victims.
Ambassador Lourdes Yparraguire is very much grateful fort he big humanitarian support handed by the Korean Community in Austria. The ambassador acknowleged that Korea and Philippines share many common interests.
„South Korea and the Philippines possess a more than 60-year diplomatic relations. Filipinos love South Korea and Koreans love the Philippines as well. When South Korea needed help during the Korean War, the Philippines sent its contingent to help the country,“ Yparraguirre said.
Elected presidentof the Council of Filipino Associations in Austria, Bong Segura thanked the generosity oft he Korean Community here.
„This gesture of kindness and solidarity from the Korean American Community is an example of the outpouring of support that the Philippines has been receiving from the various ethnic communities in Austria as well as in other parts of the globe,“ Segera said.
